Literature Text

Joe was tired.

Not physically tired, no. He was tired of this city, of the crumbling world around him.

/Can you hear me.../

He had been planning this for months. His escape. He would see if there was anything left beyond these city walls.

But yet... He was afraid.

/Can you hear me running.../

Afraid of the stories... Of Light's Monster... That soulless, solitary, pulsating red eye.

But even death would be better than the life this city is accustomed to. Better than living under the screens... Than living under fear.

And so, he decided.

"Tonight, I will ride."

/Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you.../

He entered a nearby bar. And the rest... is history.

/The city doesn't know what's coming; she doesn't feel the heat.../
A piece I wrote back in January. Don't ask why I named it what I did - those who should know, know.
